Corniglia: a weekend that starts with the climb
The village sits above the sea. A considered arrival makes that position easier to enjoy on a short stay.

Include the elevation in your plans
Corniglia stands on a cliff roughly a hundred metres above the sea. The Cinque Terre National Park describes access from the railway by the Lardarina staircase or the road climbing to the village. That elevation is a practical part of staying here: do not book while imagining a level stroll from platform to doorway.
Ask your accommodation which connection suits your arrival and verify any available services for your dates. If you are considering the steps, assess luggage, personal requirements and weather. Choose the approach that lets you reach your room without using up all the energy you hoped to bring to the weekend.
Separate village time from hiking
The first day can belong to the village itself. Once you have left your suitcase, take a short outing to recognise the main street and find a view. Pause wherever you enjoy being. There is no need to add an immediate walk to another village simply to make the journey feel worthwhile.
Before adding a trail, consult the National Park about access and conditions and assess the route's difficulty. A name on an old map is not evidence that a path is open or suitable for your group. Exploring the centre and undertaking a hiking route are different decisions with different preparations.
Think about departure before breakfast
If you are leaving by train, account for the descent, any luggage collection and reaching the platform. Build in enough margin for a slower pace or a pause. Avoid a breakfast location far from your accommodation when you still need to finish packing and organise the final transfer to the station.
For travellers who want to stay above the sea and observe the landscape, Corniglia can be a coherent choice. For those expecting to return to their room repeatedly, the connection matters even more. Choosing with these requirements in mind is more useful than assuming a level of convenience you have not checked.
Treat arrival and the descent to the station as part of the stay, and distinguish optional hikes from a simple village visit.
