How this website works

You can read the guides without creating an account on this website. We have no contact forms, payments, comments or newsletter. No advertising or audience analytics tools are integrated. A private preview may require access managed by the hosting platform.

Language and approximate location

To choose the initial language, the server uses the country estimated from the IP address by the hosting infrastructure. Italy, San Marino and Vatican City receive Italian; other countries and unknown locations receive English. This estimate does not identify the languages a person speaks. The website does not maintain a database of visitors’ locations.

When you switch languages, the functional vdb_language cookie remembers your choice for up to one year. It takes priority over geographical selection on visits without an explicit language. You can remove it in your browser settings; links specifying a language keep that language.

Search and technical data

Search runs in your browser using an index downloaded from the website. The query appears in the page address and may be stored in browser history. The hosting provider processes technical information needed to deliver pages, such as IP addresses and HTTP requests, under its own terms and retention settings; this website does not set an independent retention period for those logs.

Email and external links

If you email us, your address and message are processed through the email service to handle your request. Do not include sensitive information. Linked external websites have their own privacy notices. Journal images and resources are served locally, without browser requests to image libraries.
