Choose accommodation for a trip without a car
Distance from the station is only the beginning: dinners, activities and departure need to work with the transport available.

Check the route from your stop
A property a few kilometres from the station may be less convenient than one farther away with a direct connection. Examine the actual journey at your arrival time, including the stop, surfaces, gradients and space to walk with luggage. Do not use straight-line distance alone. If the property offers a transfer, ask about availability, booking arrangements and conditions before making it part of the trip. Clarify what happens when your arrival is delayed. Taxis operating in the destination do not automatically mean a vehicle will be ready at the hour you need one. Verify the complete connection beforehand.
Imagine journeys after check-in
The first connection is insufficient if every meal or activity requires another vehicle. Mark somewhere to eat, a useful service and your main weekend destination, then check how to reach each and return. A nearby restaurant may sit on a road awkward for walking, while a more distant centre may have an easy connection. Ask the property for precise directions but verify timetables with the transport operator. Do not assume a path or road is suitable merely because an app suggests a walking route. Your plan needs to work without depending on an informal lift that nobody has agreed to provide.
Choose with departure in mind
Check the connection for your return date and hour before confirming accommodation. A useful outward service may not operate when you leave. Include checkout, luggage retrieval and a margin before an important connection. If you want an activity before departure, establish where belongings can be stored rather than relying on an unarranged favour. Finally, compare total cost and time, not only the room rate. Accommodation slightly closer to services can offer more freedom during two nights than an isolated property requiring several booked transfers. Judge the base by the entire stay, including the morning when you need to leave it.
Verify arrival, everyday movements and departure: a car-free stay works when all three parts have concrete, usable connections.
