Check storage arrangements before planning a day between check-ins.
Start with the dimensions
Useful storage must accept the luggage you actually have. Check size limits, the number of bags and excluded items before booking. The word locker does not guarantee that a hard-shell suitcase will fit, while staffed storage may have different procedures and opening hours from a row of automatic compartments.
Compare its position with your route as well. A lower price is less attractive if collection means crossing the town again. Mark three points: arrival, your main activity and departure. Look for an option that does not add a fourth lengthy journey to the day.
Make collection clear
The important time is the deadline for retrieving your bag. Check whether the service closes during the day, what happens if you are late and whether charges change after a certain duration. Read the conditions for the actual location rather than only the platform’s general introduction.
Before handing over a suitcase, prepare a small bag containing identification, your phone, bookings and anything needed before collection. Keep the receipt or code somewhere you can access even if your phone is unavailable. Do not leave items that the service prohibits inside the stored luggage.
Accommodation or external storage?
Asking your accommodation is a sensible first step, but do not assume storage is available. Ask whether it operates before check-in or after check-out, where bags are kept and how collection works. Base your plan on the answer you receive rather than on what another property once offered.
Set a collection reminder that includes the time needed to reach storage, rather than only its closing time. Before walking away, check how your luggage will be identified among other bags that may look similar.
