Share costs without making them the theme of the weekend
A simple agreement before departure reduces small misunderstandings during the trip.

Decide what is shared
Before booking, distinguish shared expenses from personal choices. A room, agreed transfer and purchases for everyone can go on one list; individual treatments, souvenirs and optional activities can stay separate. No division is automatically right for every group. What matters is that everyone understands and accepts the approach.
Discuss the preferred spending level as well. A special dinner may matter to one person and feel unnecessary to another. Talking about these preferences before travelling makes room for alternatives without turning a decision outside a restaurant into an uncomfortable conversation.
Record a little, promptly
For each shared expense, note the amount, who paid and which people took part. A shared note or simple sheet may be enough. There is no need to reconstruct every private purchase. The list should recall what you agreed to split without becoming a way of monitoring one another.
If an expense concerns only part of the group, record that immediately. Remembering after several days is harder. Keep useful receipts until the final comparison and check amounts calmly, rather than calculating while someone is waiting to board transport.
Choose a time to settle up
Decide when to compare the total, perhaps during a pause before returning or once home. A clear moment prevents the subject resurfacing in every conversation. Review uncertainties together before settling the balance through the method you have agreed on, using the same figures everyone has seen.
For the next trip, retain only what is useful as a general reference. There is no need to keep a detailed archive of other participants’ personal habits.
Agree on the approach first and record only the expenses you have chosen to share.
